West Laurel Hill Dedicates Green Burial Section

To celebrate our new offering of natural burial and green funeral services, West Laurel Hill Cemetery hosted a ground-breaking ceremony and free seminar in our Conservatory. Joe Sehee, Executive Director of the Green Burial Council, conducted the seminar outlining the standards for providing funeral services sustainable to the planet. Donna Larsen, Outreach/Education Coordinator for the Council explained how families can prepare their loved one for home viewing and services.

Nature's Sanctuary is West Laurel Hill's newest burial section and provides our families with the option of a natural burial. Approved members of the Green Burial Council, Bringhurst Funeral Home and West Laurel Hill Cemetery is the only funeral home/cemetery organization offering natural burial and green funeral services in the United States. In the natural burial section, no embalmed bodies will be permitted, only natural markers will be used instead of granite monuments, no outer burial containers will be used and the landscape features native plants and trees.
